What is the point of praying?

Praying is one of the greatest privileges in the world.  It is a way for us humans to communicate with our Creator God.

God not only hears but answers believing prayers.

But, answers to prayers may not always be what you expect.   I have found that God in his great wisdom knows best.  He knows the big picture, the future and loves me dearly as he does you. 

God's answer to our prayers is always for our good.   In the Bible, Psalm 145 says "God is good to all".   The more we open ourselves to God's love, the more we will realize how good and loving God is.

Prayer will bring you peace and confidence.   As you give your cares and concerns to God, you will see that he will bring you his peace.  

Prayer will uplift your spirit and enourage spiritual growth.

Make it a habit to pray often - when you wake, when you eat, when you go to sleep, when you go about your regular day. 

The Lord's Prayer which Jesus taught his disciple to pray is a great place to start praying and a wonderful prayer to pray everyday.  Here it is:

Our Father, which art in Heaven.  Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.  And  lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil; For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever, Amen.
